美國GM細胞生物學部斯克里普斯研究所,2006年有關薄荷醇與其他感官化合物報告顯示:(1) 薄荷醇以其冷卻效果而聞名,激活了TRPM8 – 一種冷活化的thermTRP離子通道。 然而人體生理研究表明薄荷醇在溫暖感覺調節中的矛盾作用,在這裡我們顯示薄荷醇也激活熱激活的TRPV3。 我們進一步表明薄荷醇抑制TRPA1,潛在地解釋了薄荷醇作為止痛劑的用途,可引起熱和疼痛感覺的天然化合物的分子受體,也調節其他的熱TRP,因此我們發現許多推定為具體的“感官化合物”與熱循環系統具有混雜的關係。
